The Lever Rotary Calf is a standing calf-raise on a leverage machine that trains ankle plantarflexion against a rotating lever arm. Primary movers are the gastrocnemius (with the knee mostly extended) and the soleus; intrinsic and extrinsic foot/ankle stabilizers assist in controlling the arch and heel. The fixed path and shoulder pads provide a stable setup so you can focus on moving only at the ankle while keeping a neutral spine. Maintain a soft, unlocked knee to avoid hyperextension and keep the movement centered through the forefoot “tripod” (base of big toe, base of little toe, and heel). Use a controlled range from comfortable dorsiflexion (heels lowered) to full plantarflexion (heels raised) without bouncing to respect the Achilles–calf complex and joint alignment.

How To Do The Lever Rotary Calf Exercise
‘- Set the shoulder pads to your height. Stand on the platform with the balls of your feet on the edge and heels free.
– Place shoulders under the pads, grasp the handles lightly, and brace the trunk to achieve a neutral spine and level pelvis.
– Position feet hip-width, toes pointing straight ahead, and keep knees softly unlocked (not locked back).
– If the machine has a safety stop, release it while maintaining your stacked posture (ears over shoulders over hips).
– Lower under control by allowing the ankles to dorsiflex—heels descend until you feel a comfortable stretch without losing midfoot pressure.
– Drive straight up by pressing through the entire forefoot (especially the first and fifth metatarsal heads), keeping the heel path vertical.
– At the top, achieve full plantarflexion without letting the ankles roll outward or inward; keep weight centered on the forefoot tripod.
– Keep the torso still—avoid bouncing, shrugging, or pushing with the hips. Movement occurs at the ankle only.
– Maintain even pressure through both feet; prevent knees from caving in or hyperextending.
– Re-engage the safety stop when finished, then step down carefully with control.

– Lower your heels under control into dorsiflexion only until you feel a comfortable stretch without losing midfoot pressure.
– Press straight up through the entire forefoot, emphasizing the first and fifth metatarsal heads, and keep the heel path vertical.
– At the top, reach full plantarflexion without letting your ankles roll inward or outward, keeping weight on the forefoot tripod.
– Keep pressure even between both feet throughout each rep.
– When finished, re-engage the safety stop before stepping down carefully with control.
