How To Do The Bodyweight Windmill Exercise
‘- Stand tall, feet about shoulder-width. Turn both toes 30–45° away from the arm you’ll raise overhead.
– Shift most weight to the leg under the overhead arm; keep ribs stacked over pelvis.
– Raise that-side arm straight overhead, biceps near ear; reach the other hand down along the inner thigh of the front leg.
– Inhale, brace the trunk. Push hips back toward the loaded side to initiate a hinge; keep knees soft, not locked.
– Slide the bottom hand down the shin toward the midfoot while keeping the chest open and shoulders stacked.
– Keep the overhead arm vertical and eyes on that hand; maintain a long, neutral spine without rounding.
– Stop when you feel hamstring tension or before the low back flexes.
– Exhale and drive the loaded hip forward to stand tall, keeping the top arm vertical.
– Switch sides.
– Avoid: bending through the low back, collapsing the overhead shoulder, letting the front knee cave inward, or rotating the hips instead of hinging.
