How To Do The Forward Step Air Bike Exercise
‘- Stand tall with feet hip-width, ribs stacked over pelvis, shoulders down and back, eyes forward.
– Lightly brace your midsection; raise elbows to about 90 degrees to prepare for a cycling arm action.
– Step forward with the right foot and land softly on the midfoot under your center of mass; right knee tracks over the second toe.
– As you step, drive the left knee toward hip height with the ankle dorsiflexed.
– Simultaneously “cycle” the arms: rotate gently through the thoracic spine to bring the right elbow toward the lifted left knee while the left arm drives back. Keep elbows wide; avoid pulling the head or neck.
– Maintain a neutral spine and level pelvis; avoid excessive lumbar rotation or side-bending.
– Push through the whole stance foot to come back to the start position.
– Repeat on the opposite side: step forward with the left foot while driving the right knee up and bringing the left elbow toward it.
– Continue alternating in a smooth, even cadence; keep shoulders relaxed and breathe naturally.
– If balance wavers, reduce knee height or slow the arm action, then rebuild rhythm.
